The series follows a 10 year old boy named Benjamin Kirby Tennyson. While their on a summer vacation road trip with his cousin Gwen and their grandfather Max, who is later revealed to be a member of a secret intergalactic organization called the Plumbers. On their first night camping in their grandfather's RV, nicknamed the Rust Bucket, Ben finds a mysterious watch-like alien device that attaches itself upon his wrist, giving him the ability to transform into several (initially ten but later more) alien life-forms, each with special abilities.
The Omnitrix was created by Azmuth, a highly intelligent and reclusive Galvan scientist. He also had help from his assistant Myaxx, Azmuth intended the Omnitrix to be a tool for understanding and promoting peace between different species by allowing its wearer to experience life from various perspectives.
The Omnitrix attracts the attention of various villains who seek to steal or control its power for their nefarious purposes. Ben faces numerous threats from evil aliens, rogue humans, and other adversaries who view the Omnitrix as a valuable asset.
